Washington’s State Fund significantly reduced the number of long-term disabled workers and
cut claim liabilities by nearly $2 billion with measures for identifying at-risk claimants early on and
then applying approaches employers and insurers can glean ideas from. The Fund’s continuing
return-to-work improvements include vocational service vendor collaboration to identify best
practices for eliminating work disability. You’ll also hear how it is addressing vendor compensation
and non-financial incentives for best-practices adherence and testing its measures with workers,
employers and medical providers.
